Self-taught from age 4, Nate’s formal drum set training began during high school with Grant Menefee in Baltimore, Maryland. He continued his education in Boston, Massachusetts as a music performance major at the renowned Berklee College of Music, where he studied with drummers such as Gary Chaffee, Ed Uribe, John Ramsay and Ian Froman. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Berklee in 1994, he taught and played in Boston. Since moving to Los Angeles in 1999, Nate has amassed touring and recording credits which include Cher, Natalie Cole, Chaka Khan, Michael Bolton, Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Richard Marx, Paul Anka, Paul Stanley, Pink, Paulina Rubio, Thalia and Carrie Underwood. He was also the hard hitting force behind the houseband on the Mark Burnett series, ROCKSTAR:INXS and ROCKSTAR:Supernova, as well as the source of the swing in the houseband on the daytime talk show, The Bonnie Hunt Show. Currently he can be heard playing in the house band on the NBC hit show, THE VOICE. He cites Animal from The Muppet Show as his first and biggest influence.
